What You Get

quotation markAfter the real estate bust in the Fall of 2008, our dream of owning a retirement home in Sedona was looking like a possibility, so I started looking on Trulia for properties. I had a few questions and posted to a forum there. Within hours, Barbara had responded. I emailed her with our plans, and once again, she immediately responded, w/several options. Indeed, throughout the process, she always got back to us lightning fast.

We decided to visit Sedona, and meet w/Barbara, thinking we would look at a few properties and spend the rest of the week poking around, seeing what areas we may like to explore further. Barbara had other plans – she picked us up at 10am, on a holiday weekend, and showed us 12 properties!

With each house, she asked, “What did you like about that one and what didn’t you like?” An accomplished listener, she used our answers to hone the home selections until she zeroed in on exactly what we wanted. Number 11 was our dream home. What a delight to work with someone who actually listens!

From that point on Barbara was a whirlwind. By Friday we had: a mortgage, a site survey, a home inspection, a meeting w/a rental property manager and several estimates from contractors.

She is a tough negotiator—we are glad she was on our side!—and managed to get the sellers to take $15,000 less than the asking price. When the home inspection revealed that it needed some repairs, Barbara was a bull-dog in the best sense of the word, helping us secure several estimates from the best contractors in Sedona, and negotiating with the seller’s REALTOR® for us to be credited additional money toward those repairs.

Even though it isn’t technically part of a REALTOR’s® job responsibilities, she is currently holding on to the keys, letting those contractors in to make repairs until we can turn the house over to the property management company. Our beautiful new home couldn’t be in better hands. She has truly gone above and beyond. She’s charming and entertaining, too. You will find yourself smiling and laughing through the whole process.

Through it all Barbara has been everything one could possibly want in a REALTOR®. Friendly, hard-working, competent and VERY well-connected. This is key for folks like us, who live out-of-state.
